Sisterhood: Our Funny Triad

My sister excellently summed up our time in Hawaii by speaking about the bond we have as sisters. Thankfully, she skated over our differences and didn’t mention that I’ve become a left-wing lunatic intent on destroying America. In all seriousness, though, I appreciate her words, and I’m 80 percent sure she doesn’t think I’m a lunatic.

The Turquoise Turtle

I’ve just gotten to spend six days with my two sisters, Rebekah, who turned 23 during the visit, and Natalie, who is 19, while they stayed with me and my husband Joel at our home in Kailua, Hawai‘i.

While spending a few days with my sisters may not seem all that newsworthy, this was a unique occasion for several reasons. First, I have lived in Hawai‘i for the past four years, and though it is amazing to live here, it is also very far away from everything else; it means I don’t see my family as often as I would like. Second, Rebekah has lived in New York City for the past five years, which is also far away from our Austin home.
